Sales Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales and Business Development:

Identify and develop new business opportunities in the industrial air conditioning, process chillers, panel air conditioners, and dehumidifier segments.

Manage and expand relationships with existing clients while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain Tempcon’s products and services to prospective and existing customers.

2. Technical Expertise and Support:

Understand customer requirements and propose appropriate Tempcon solutions that meet their specific needs.

Collaborate with the engineering team to customize products as per client requirements.

Provide technical support to customers during pre-sales, installation, and post-sales phases.

3. Market Research and Strategy:

Analyze market trends, competitors, and customer feedback to identify sales opportunities and potential product improvements.

Assist in formulating sales strategies to achieve company targets.

4. Sales Operations:

Prepare and negotiate quotes, tenders, and contracts in coordination with the management team.

5. After-Sales Service Coordination:

Work closely with the service team to address customer concerns and resolve any technical issues promptly.

Follow up on service calls to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

6. Team Collaboration:

Coordinate with other departments (R&D, production, and service) to ensure timely delivery of products and services.

Provide training and support to junior sales staff as needed.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in sales engineering or technical sales in HVAC or industrial equipment.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial air conditioning systems, refrigeration, and process cooling applications.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly.

Sales Skills: Strong negotiation and presentation abilities.

Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel extensively to meet clients and oversee projects.

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Achievement of monthly/quarterly sales targets.

Client acquisition and retention rates.

Number of technical proposals submitted and converted into sales.

Customer satisfaction scores.

Procurement Management:
Identify and source quality materials, components, and equipment from reliable vendors.
Evaluate supplier quotations to ensure the best pricing and quality.
Develop and maintain a preferred vendor list.

Costing and Budget Management:
Prepare detailed cost analyses for materials and purchases.
Monitor procurement budgets to ensure adherence to financial goals.
Negotiate cost reductions with suppliers while maintaining quality standards.

Vendor Relationship Management:
Maintain professional relationships with suppliers for long-term partnerships.
Evaluate vendor performance regularly in terms of pricing, delivery timelines, and quality.
Resolve disputes or issues with suppliers effectively.

Inventory and Logistics Coordination:
Coordinate with inventory and stores teams to track stock levels.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to prevent production delays.
Manage logistics to minimize lead time and cost.

Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate purchase records, including purchase orders and invoices.
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards for procurement.
Assist in internal and external audits related to procurement activities.

Market Analysis and Research:
Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, new suppliers, and cost-saving opportunities.
Stay updated on industry practices and technological advancements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the production, finance, and quality control teams for alignment on requirements.
Participate in meetings to understand material requirements and project needs.

Reporting and MIS:
Generate and present periodic reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and vendor performance.
Analyze procurement data to identify opportunities for process improvements.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software/tools.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of industrial materials and supply chain management.
